Steve Smith catch vs New Zealand: The Australian batsman grabbed a magnificent catch to send back New Zealand wicket-keeper batsman.

During the 37th match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between New Zealand and Australia at Lord’s, Australia batsman Steve Smith dived in the air to grab a one-handed magnificent catch to dismiss New Zealand wicket-keeper batsman Tom Latham.

It all happened on the third delivery of the 36th over when Latham’s attempt to flick a Mitchell Starc delivery saw him hitting the ball in the air. Smith, who was fielding at short mid-wicket, dived to his right and caught the ball in a jiffy.
Latham, who had come in to bat at No. 5 in the 26th over, returned back to the pavilion after scoring 14 (28). Having scored 41 runs in seven matches at an average of 8.20 and a strike rate of 48.80, Latham has had a forgettable tournament so far.

His dismissal saw New Zealand getting reduced to 125/6 in a 244-run chase. With all-rounder James Neesham (9) also falling to Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon soon after, the Kiwis are in real danger of registering their second defeat in a row.

After Australia captain Aaron Finch won the toss and chose to bat, Australia scored a mediocre 243/9 in 50 overs. Usman Khawaja, who came in to bat at No. 3 in the fifth over, top-scored for Australia with his 88 (129) with the help of five fours. With bowling figures of 10-1-51-4 including a hat-trick, New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult was the pick of the bowlers for the Kiwis.
