Pakistan and Afghanistan fans clash outside Headingley: Both the teams’ spectators were seen exchanging blows at each other.

Pakistan and Afghanistan cricket teams’ fans were involved in a serious clash outside the Headingley stadium in Leeds before the start of the 37th match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The videos of the same went viral on social media platform Twitter during the first innings of the match.

While the reason behind the fight remains unknown, a couple of videos see fans engage in a battle royal which was eventually interfered by the security officials. The lack of harmony between fans of both the teams is a concern for such behaviour isn’t expected from people who come to enjoy the match.

Speaking about the match, Afghanistan captain Gulbadin Naib had won the toss and elected to bat first. In their allotted quota of 50 overs, Afghanistan had scored 227/9. Middle-order batsmen Asghar Afghan and Najibullah Zadran top-scored for Afghanistan, scoring 42 each.

With bowling figures of 10-0-47-4, left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan. Afridi became the first-ever teenager to pick a four-wicket haul in a World Cup match. Other than Afridi, fast bowler Wahab Riaz and all-rounder Imad Wasim dismissed a couple of batsmen each. Leg-spinner Shadab Khan picked up the wicket of Afghan in the 26th over.

While Afghanistan are already out of the tournament, Pakistan still have a chance of qualifying for the semi-finals. A victory in this match will undoubtedly make things easier for them.
